Germany's largest museum of its kind, Nuremberg's outstanding Germanic National Museum concentrates on regional art and culture, with many fine exhibits clearly documenting the history of this country. Exhibits range from historic coins and old tapestries, to collections of paintings and scientific inventions from today. Various seasonal events take place within this museum, including concerts and seminars.

The Nuremberg Natural History Museum is amongst the city's oldest and most notable museums, dating back some 200 years and located within the historic Old Town area. A small and interesting attraction, this museum is housed within the Neunhofer Castle, which was built some 500 years ago. Offering a glimpse into the castle's former life, expect to see restored rooms with period furnishings, an authentic kitchen, and landscaped formal gardens.

Appealing to all ages, the Nuremberg Toy Museum, otherwise known as the Spielzeugmuseum, is bursting with toys spanning the past 70 years. Ranging from Lego models and tin cars, to Barbie dolls and modern computer toys, there is something for everyone here. You are able to play with some of the museum's toys and games, which is often the main highlight for children.

Located within the Oststadt area of Nuremberg, the Museum of Industry remembers the industrial past and development, both in the city and around Germany. Various themed exhibitions and displays illustrate the industrial revolution, while the School Museum offers a chance to experience classrooms and teaching methods from 100 years ago.

Known locally in Nuremberg as the Verkehrsmuseum, the Transport Museum dates back to the end of the 19th century and is home to an excellent collection of railroad memorabilia.
