One of the most famous buildings in Nuremberg, St. Lorenz Cathedral was built in the middle of the 13th century, although the actual construction process lasted many years. Highlights include stone sculptures, a Gothic-style archway with double doors, a signature round ornate window, a huge pipe organ, regular concerts and an established resident choir. St. Lorenz Cathedral is located to one side of Lorenzer Platz, a busy square often full of busy market traders and street entertainers.

Boasting imposing Baroque-style architecture and many attractive period features, St. Egidien Church is better known locally in Nuremberg as Egidienkirche. Built on the site of an older church in the 18th century, St. Egidien Church comprises three older chapels.

St. Sebaldus Church stands proudly in Old Town Nuremberg and is the most historic church in the whole of Nuremberg, dating back to the 13th century. With twin towers, beautiful stained-glass windows and a number of impressive religious art works, St. Sebaldus Church offers regular services and a number of seasonal concerts, which are usually well attended.
