Nuremberg Hotels and Nuremberg Accommodation
(Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany, DE)
In general, accommodation within Germany's city of Nuremberg is fairly inexpensive and cheap guest rooms are not usually difficult to locate, especially when you book ahead and specifically at the weekends. However, at certain times of the year, accommodation in Nuremberg becomes particularly tight and as a result, prices can rise.
Hotels in Nuremberg are especially busy during the Christkindlemarkt (Christmas Market), which is held from the end of November right up to Christmas Eve and is the biggest event of its kind in the whole of Germany. Accommodation can also be in short supply in Nuremberg at the end of January, when a major trade toy fair takes place along the Münchener Strasse.
Nuremberg Hotels and Accommodation: Where to Stay - Nuremberg, Germany, DE
Many reasonably prices hotels reside in the historic Old Town district (Altstadt) of Nuremberg, often being close to the city walls or overlooking the Kaiserburg Castle.
Accommodation in this part of the city is especially convenient for those who wish to walk to many of the main attractions, and a selection of top nightspots are also often nearby.
The Main Market area of Nuremberg, known locally as 'Hauptmarkt', is a favourite place to stay within the Old Town and contains a good selection of small, local hotels. Also within this part of Nuremberg, many popular hotels and additional accommodation can be found within the following spots.
- Augustinerstrasee - near to shopping areas, cafes and a number of cinemas
- Burg - home to an excellent youth hostel and many mid-range hotels
- Frauentorgraben - with superb views across the Old Town area and Nuremberg city centre
- Johannesgasse - close to the historic Marientor city gates
- Knorrstrasse - within the St. Lawrence Quarter and featuring traditional accommodation, next to the Jakobsplatz
- Königstrasse - next to both Nuremberg train station and the Lorenplatz
- Lammsgasse - within the very heart of medieval Altstadt, offering hotels with castle views
- Luitpoldstrasse - full of entertainment options and near to the Opera House, and also the New Museum for Art and Design
- Pillenreutherstrasse - within Nuremberg's vibrant Galgenhof neighbourhood and featuring many hotels suitable for business travellers
- Vordere Ledergasse - a particularly tranquil spot with pleasant surroundings
Whilst Nuremberg's Altstadt district is appealing and full of character, parking can be rather problematic at times, with many areas being designated as traffic free. Therefore, either be sure to book a hotel with its own car park, or be prepared to park in one of the nearby parking garages and walk to your accommodation.
